Legs

Seated Calf Raise

The calf is made up of two muscles: the gastrocnemius, which attaches above the knee and activates when the leg is straight and the soleus, which attaches below the knee and activates when the knee is bent. The seated calf is for the soleus muscle. Start by placing the balls of the feet on the platform and the knees under the pad. Maintain good form with a full stretch and use a slower tempo or higher repetitions with this exercise as the soleus tends to be predominantly slow twitch muscle fiber dominant.
