Squat at Smith Machine

The Smith Machine has the advantage of stabilizing the weight for the lifter. Because of this, it is easier than a conventional squat. There are also built in spotter bars the lifter can use. Whether you are more advanced and want to go heavy safely without someone else to spot you, or if you are a beginner just learning the form, this machine can be a good way to squat. Keep in mind that the tracks the bar follows are slightly angled so feet should be slightly in front of machine (it is also important to note that because of this there is more shearing effect on the knee joint and is not recommended with someone with preexisting knee conditions.) Make sure to keep chest and head up throughout squat motion and set hips back on the descent.
