Treadmill Combo Walk Back Peddle Side Shuffle

I teach these techniques to clients separately prior to integrating them. I begin with the backpeddle which I teach slowly (usually beginning with a speed of 2.1-2.5 mph). When my client becomes proficient at the backpeddle, I teach them to turn into a forward walk. Once they master the backpeddle I move into teaching the side shuffle. This movement is typically learned at 3-3.5 mph. It is crucial to not cross the feet. You must work this toe to toe or risk tangling your feet and risk being thrown off the belt. These techiniques are really good for keeping treadmill work fun. The cross-training challenge can be an excellent calorie burner too.
