Farmers Walk with Plates



The farmer's carry is an exercise designed to improve grip strength. Care needs to be taken to ensure plates used are not too heavy or held for too long as muscular failure could cause plate to be dropped on feet. In the example shown, the lifter is holding 45 lbs steel plates by their rim at the top of the weights. These are typically carried for a prescribed distance or time and should be set down in a squatting motion when set is over or if the lifter can't continue.
