De-Loaded Band Deadlift

Using bands anchored above the barbell will allow the lifter to use a lighter weight at the bottom of the motion (where they have the least mechanical advantage) and increase the load as they stand. This can be advantageous from the standpoint of taking it easy on the lower back at the hardest part of the motion. Likewise, it can allow more advanced lifters to use this as a method of getting used to a new maximum load in lockout position. Bands also teach lifters speed. By accelerating the weight from the floor to lockout, the variable load isn't as noticeable. For more on the form see also Deadlift.
