Seated Rotary Torso



These machines are found in many commercialized gyms. Some will have the user twist their upper body and others with have the user rotate their lower body. Either way, they are effective for developing the oblique muscles on the side of the abs (and wrap around to your lower back). The most important thing to remember when using this is to keep the weight engaged throughout the set (do not allow weight stack to touch until finished with entire set). I typically have clients do one side at a time and keep the range of motion limited to how far they can twist to side and the mid-line of their body (where the machine is centered on your body).
