Pin Press with Mini Bands

I typically refer to pressing a bar (in a limited range of motion) off spotter bars as a "pin press". In this example, we are using a squat rack to spot the bar but a power rack would also do. The rack height is approximately 4-6 inches higher than the lifters chest. The bands (mini bands by Jump Stretch) are anchored to the bottom of the rack, but could also be fastened under dumbbells heavy enough to resist the load. In this example, the minis are adding approximately 75 lbs to the lifters bar. This teaches the lifter acceleration because the best way to beat the varying tension from beginning to end of the press is to press quickly. That way, he learns to produce speed from the bottom of the motion.
