Push Ups



The push up is one of the most basic exercises for building chest, shoulders and triceps. It is also an excellent core exercise with proper activation of the lower back and abs. Begin exercise with head, back and legs straight and hands shoulder width just below your chest. Keep abdominals drawn in tight and head neutral as you lower your chest between your palms. Try angling hands outward slightly or holding on to d.b.'s if wrists have pain. If you lack strength in the push up, try starting from a lying position with hands outside chest and making your first movement the press upward or you can try the inclined push up.
