Stability Bench Press with Hanging Plates



I would consider this a very advanced bench press exercise. We use "mini" bands by Jump Stretch to hang 25 lbs plates from the bar. The bands are looped into a figure 8 then doubled over each other then fed through the center of the plate. To increase weight, we use another plate and another band on each side. Since we only use 25's with these bands, every increase in weight is by 50 lbs (which is substantial when using lower reps and heavy loads). While I typically don't like to make weight recommendations on my website (because I don't personally know your limits), I will say that my clients that bench between 315-350 can use (4) 25 lbs plates on each side for 6-10 reps. Keep in mind that is 245lbs of swinging, bouncing, wobbling weight.
