Close Grip Bench Press

Start Stop
Many lifters will do a close grip bench press with their elbows against their torso in the lowering phase of the lift. I have my clients set a grip the same width as their chest and keep their elbows out. By keeping the wrist and elbow in line with the bar, you reduce rotation on the shoulder as well as the torque created in the elbow.
